Counselling is a means of relating and responding to clients with the aim of giving them safe space and time to explore their feelings, beliefs, thoughts and behaviour. These opportunities can help them to develop and/or broaden own thoughts and awareness, and to explore alternatives to their situation. This enables clients to take informed decisions on future direction and encourages them towards living in a more personally satisfying and resourceful way. Counselliing may be held with individuals, couples, families and groups.

Notice from the Council for the Counselling Profession
The Council wishes to remind counsellors holding temporary warrants who have exceeded the six-year temporary-warrant period that they are required to apply for a full warrant by 31st December 2026.
Counsellors who fail to submit an application by this deadline will be removed from the register.
This matter was identified during the Council’s internal review process. Going forward, responsibility will rest with warrant holders to monitor their warrant status and ensure that their applications and supporting documentation are submitted within the required timeframe.
