The Committee for the Strengthening of the Family within the Ministry, announced how it shall be addressing, and creating more awareness about how parents should act with their children especially in case of separated couples. Parents they said, should continue to share the same message of love towards their children.
The second pillar focuses on the important element of grandparents within the family, who as times goes by are becoming even more crucial because of the assistance they give. There shall also be emphasis placed on the solitude felt by grandparents and the elderly. Everybody deserves dignity and to have communication, and thus the role of the Government in this regard was emphasised. The 1772 helpline which is aimed as persons who feel isolated and which has been very well received was also mentioned.
The third pillar shall centre around various forms of the family and how these are all part of the society we live in today.

The Minister said that it is important that the Government continues to strengthen the family on a financial level and through other assistance, but also by continuing to strengthen everyone’s social welfare. He added that he is conscious of the ever-changing social realities and in the same way the Government’s work becomes more proactive to address such themes.
The Chairperson of the Committee for the Strengthening of the Family within the Ministry, Joe Gerada said that in the coming months he shall be going into more detail with regards to these schemes and giving more professional knowledge.
