Press Release by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Active Ageing and Persons with Disability: Phlebotomy service in the community is now extended to Fgura and Żabbar

Reference Number: PR200258en, Press Release Issue Date: Feb 17, 2020

After the introduction of the new phlebotomy pilot service in Birkirkara and Mosta, this service has now also been extended to Żabbar and Fgura. Thanks to this service, the elderly and persons with a disability suffering from mobility problems can get their blood drawn for tests by professionals free of charge in their own private residences.

During a press conference, Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing and Persons with Disability Silvio Parnis said that this service is targeted at elderly and persons with disability living in the community and, as a result of difficulties with mobility, they are not able to leave their homes and go to hospitals or health centres for this service. Due to such constraints, a lot of these people are ending up paying for such a service. This is why we are planning on making this service available in all localities in Malta and Gozo in the near future.

For more information or to make an appointment for this service, one may call on 22589393 or on 159.
